Hypothyroidism and my failing immune system!

I am Hypothyroid. I have the Hashimoto variety, so my immune system attacks my thyroid and my levels of T4 and 3 are low. I take Thyroxine and this keeps my levels normal. So most of the time I feel like everybody else. My immune system is pretty lame though, and if there are bugs going around (colds/flu/vomiting or whatever), I will catch them! I am currently laid up with a flu type bug wishing I was stronger to fight these things off! The thing that irritates me most, is being stuck in the house. I am normally such a home body, and love nothing more than snuggling up indoors with tea and biscuits, but if I have to be here, because Im sick and cant go out, I start to hate it and feel cooped up! I get the bug just like everybody else, its just that my energy levels plummet with it, so it takes me a few days after the bug has gone for my energy to get back on track.

I do feel ive had the better deal though. My thyroid condition is more than likely genetic, as its Hashimoto disease and you can get various immune conditions, mine happens to attack my thyroid. My mum has coeliacs disease which is her immune system attacking her gut so she cant digest certain foods, but my brother has a disc disease, where his immune system attacks the material around his discs, so they eventually fuse. He is in constant, though managed pain, and my mum misses out on some wonderful foods, so me just being tired every now and then and having colds alot, doesnt seem so bad after all.

There are always people far worse off, so I will try very hard to not be so woe is me!

i am thankful

i lead a charmed life! its very easy to get caught up in the day to day mundane, but truth be told i am very fortunate. i live with my husband who i adore and could easily spend every minute of every day with. we get each other and complement each other's personality's. on a whim we decided to move to australia to try it out, and we are having a ball. even quiet weekends include snorkelling, body boarding or swimming in the sea. its very easy for me to worry, its a bad habit i have of thinking up all the bad scenarios and dwelling on them. life is uncertain and as an organised person i sometimes find this hard. i would like to know whats around the corner, and i enjoy planning out my year, with trips to come. i am unable to do this for the long term, and find it frustrating. we have our aims and dreams and work towards them, and this is all we can do. this said, a small part of me likes not knowing, this part of me is a strong believer in fate. i know i have a path to follow and my journey is set out. i know everything happens for a reason. i have proof. i met my husband on a plane flight, we sat next to each other for 10hours and when we landed, he gave me his phone number! 7 months later we got engaged, we were meant to be together. i am very lucky.

The Adventures of Legwarmers

Legwarmers woke up and had a long stretch. He went and had breakfast. Suddenly there was a loud BANG! Scared, Legwarmers ran out through his cat flap and through the gardens and down the street. He ran as fast as he could until he could run no more. He looked around and realised he didn’t know where he was. A little bit frightened he made his way towards some children that were laughing and playing. They were singing and playing in the school yard, and when they noticed him they came over to him and gave him fusses and attention and made him feel better. He was playing with a little girl, and when she went to catch her bus home he followed her. The bus driver noticed him get on and asked the little girl if he belonged to her and she said no. So the bus driver asked the parents at each stop if they owned Legwarmers and nobody did. Legwarmers was enjoying the bus ride, seeing all the houses and trees go by. At one of the stops, the bus driver asked one of the parents to take Legwarmers with them to the local vet. Legwarmers went in the car with the people, to the local vet. He was nervous at the vets, as there was a funny smell, but all the people there were very friendly and gave him lots of cuddles. They scanned him and found a microchip, so they phoned the owners and they came to collect him. Legwarmers was very pleased to see his family and to go home, he'd had a very big day. He curled up on his bed and went straight to sleep, dreaming of his adventures.
